Like many pioneering companies, this one began on the back of a paper napkin. During his tenure working alongside farmer and grazier Paddy Hare in the small western Riverina town of Wakool, NSW, Australia, Bruce Poltrock encountered a challenge with the newly purchased 2 gang offset disc plough.
Identifying several fundamental design shortcomings while operating the machine. After demonstrating his capabilities through various farm projects, Paddy agreed for Bruce to undertake the re-engineering of the machine based on their impromptu napkin blueprint. The endeavour proved successful.
From that initial napkin sketch to the debut of the first plough at the Echuca show in 1981, a machine specifically tailored for Australian conditions was released to the world, the journey was one of innovation and determination.
And so, in July 1981, the inaugural Grizzly-branded disc plough rolled out of a shed in Murrabit, Victoria, heralding a new era in Australian farming equipment, a plough designed by an Australian for Australia’s harsh conditions. Creating a new category of ploughs, a Grizzly
