Feathertop Rhodes grass (FTR) is causing chaos from Queensland right down to Victoria and South Australia — and not controlled it can become terribly invasive.
At Grizzly, we get it. We’re farmers too, and we’ve built our equipment to help you stay in control and keep your land working hard for you.
Why Feathertop Rhodes Grass is a Real Nuisance — And What You Can Do About It
FTR loves a no-till setup, bursts to life with as little as 10mm of rain, and pumps out up to 40,000 seeds per plant.
It matures fast, shrugs off most herbicides, and takes over before you know it. It’s the kind of weed that turns good ground into a headache.
But there’s good news — you can beat it. You just need the right tools and a solid plan.
Grizzly Gives You the Upper Hand
Since 2012, we’ve been working alongside Aussie farmers to knock FTR on the head.
Our offset disc ploughs are built for tough country and tougher weeds — cutting through the soil, turning it over, and burying those seeds deep so they don’t get a chance to come back.
It’s all about helping you take back control with equipment that’s practical, reliable, and made for Australian conditions.
A Smarter, Cheaper Way to Tackle Weeds
Let’s be honest — chemical treatments are expensive and lose their punch once FTR gets going.
Its know to be resistant to Glyphosate – GRDC’s FTR factsheet states “Four Australian FTR populations (two from cropping land in New South Wales and Queensland, and two from roadsides in South Australia) have been confirmed resistant to glyphosate, highlighting its herbicide resistance.”
Grizzly’s offset disc ploughs give you a more rounded approach and can be an important tool when used in a no-till farming system.
They’re designed to break the FTR cycle without breaking the bank. You’ll spend less time stressing about weeds and more time focusing on your crops.

Aussie Made
Stay One Step Ahead, Year-Round
FTR’s a summer weed, and it’s sneaky — showing up when the conditions are just right. That’s why managing it is a long game. With a Grizzly disc in your shed, you’ve got what you need to help eradicate or stop the spread.
GRDC tells us that “A single FTR plant can produce up to 40,000 seeds under optimal conditions, contributing to its rapid spread and persistence in agricultural fields.”
Aussie Farmers Back Grizzly – And We Back You
From Queensland to SA, real farmers are seeing real results with Grizzly. They’ve seen benefit in using our equipment than using chemicals alone.
They’re saving money, reducing stress, and getting their paddocks back. Join the Grizzly crew and see what a difference it makes when you’ve got the right tool for the job.
