Vineyard Cultivation

The Original Vini Disc, named for its ability to maneuver its way around a vineyard, is a medium duty 3-point linkage tandem offset.
The Vini Disc is also ideal for small farms, market gardens, and open fields where a smaller horse power tractor – generally between 40-70 horse power is used to cultivate paddocks.
The Vini Disc is unique in its design and functionality, with its featured tandem offset design that means there no side draft on the tractor at all, meaning that your tractor steers straight down the row you are discing.
Ridges and hollows and working around and around also become a thing of the past. A seamless driving is experienced with the tractor not pushing sideways on the steering wheel as you drive.
This gives you the ability to move your way up and down a row or track, with the discs working without pushing the tractor left or right and sitting square behind the tractor; this enable you to easily pull and drive.
Another key feature is the tandem offset, where the soil doesn’t get thrown to one side of the vine which means it has better control of the soil.
Standard with patented floppy T-Bar scrapers and adjustable gang angles as well as designed and proofed disc alignment ensuring the rear discs run truly in between the front discs giving you a complete and even cut out.
There is no other product close to the build quality and performance and functionality of the Vini Disc and it largely stands on its own for a high quality disc for tractors starting from 40 horsepower.
If you think you wanted something heavier to dig a little deeper for larger tractors then the Heavy Duty Linkage (HDL) may suit you better, or if you wanted a trailing unit then the Little Grumpy or Grumpy models are what you want to look at.
The Vini Disc is intentionally created to be light. This is so that it is able to work the intended width while still being lifted and used with small tractors which are often fit bolt on filler discs.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Vini Disc is designed for consistent tillage and general cultivation, particularly where weed control, wheel-track removal and soil preparation are required. It is commonly used between vines and other permanent plantations, as well as for applications such as firebreak preparation.
The Vini Disc can be used with tractors from around 40–50 HP up to 120 HP, depending on the machine and working conditions. The most common tractor range is around 80–90 HP.
The standard operating speed is around 8 km/h. In suitable conditions, operators can run the machine faster, up to around 10–12 km/h. Soil deflectors and bolt-on solid discs can be used to help maintain a high-quality finish at higher speeds.
The Vini Disc is better suited to loamier, easier-to-penetrate soils. In hard-baked clay, its relatively lighter weight can limit penetration, so it may struggle to achieve the same working depth in very hard ground.
Yes. The Vini Disc can help level the soil and create conditions that allow greater water infiltration, particularly when used alongside a working green manure or brown manure crop. Incorporating organic matter can also contribute to soil health and water infiltration within the row.
The Vini Disc’s floating design allows the machine to follow uneven ground, including ridges, hollows and changing ground profiles. The linkage should be operated in float so the machine can maintain its own working depth as the tractor moves across uneven ground.
No. The Vini Disc does not use a pneumatic reaction wheel. It connects to the tractor through a three-point linkage, with the discs setting their own working depth.
Yes. The Vini Disc has three gang-angle settings: 19°, 21° and 23°. The different settings allow operators to adjust the machine for different working conditions.
The 19° setting is the least aggressive. It allows faster travel while using less horsepower and fuel, with reduced wear and tear on the tractor.
The 21° setting is the general-purpose setting and is the setting the machine is typically left on.
The 23° setting provides the most aggressive working and greater penetration, but it reduces operating speed because of the increased disc angle.
The bolt-on filler helps improve the finish along the outer edge of the machine by feathering in the soil thrown by the front discs. Without it, the Vini Disc can leave a slight gutter along the inside edge.
That gutter can actually be useful in some vineyard applications because it provides a place for water to settle before moving towards the centre of the row. If a customer wants to eliminate the gutter, the bolt-on filler can be fitted.
Yes. The bolt-on filler is retrofittable, meaning it can be fitted at a later date. It is also height adjustable so it can be set to suit the working conditions and desired finish.
The Vini Disc is supplied for Category 1 and Category 2 linkage, and it can be adapted for Category 3. It is not designed for Category 4.
No. The Vini Disc does not have its own hydraulic pitch-control system. Pitch can be adjusted using either the tractor’s manual top link or a hydraulic top link if the tractor is equipped with one.
No. The Vini Disc does not have a hydraulic folding transport system. Its transport width is the same as its working width.
The Vini Disc uses 22-inch discs, with 20-inch corner discs as standard to help improve the finish. A full-size disc can also be fitted where a full cut is preferred.
Larger discs add overall weight to the machine, while smaller discs can assist penetration. The Vini Disc uses 6 mm thick discs and 22-inch diameter discs to provide a good finish while helping the discs spin effectively and keeping the linkage weight manageable.
The genuine discs are designed to perform in tough conditions, including rocky ground and areas with roots. Like any disc, they have limits, but Grizzly recommends using high-quality discs rather than cheaper aftermarket alternatives, which can be more prone to breakage and may offer limited support.
The Vini Disc comes with a two-year warranty on the bearings and 12 months on other components. Grizzly also stated that where quality workmanship is involved, it will work with customers to address issues even outside the standard warranty period where appropriate.
The right choice depends on the type of cultivation and finish required. According to Skye, a tandem offset generally provides better penetration, but careful attention needs to be paid to the design and cutting arrangement when choosing one.
A properly designed tandem offset helps distribute soil more evenly. The front discs throw soil in both directions from the centre, while the rear discs bring it back, helping prevent soil from progressively building up on one side of the row. This makes the tandem offset particularly desirable where a consistent, high-quality finish is important.
With speed discs and conventional offsets, the front discs throw most of the soil in one direction while the rear discs return soil in the opposite direction. Over repeated workings, one side can work deeper than the other, causing the rows between permanent plantings to gradually become uneven.
Over time, this can create problems for equipment such as harvesters and sprayers.
A tandem offset splits the soil movement from the front discs around the centre, throwing soil in both directions and bringing it back in both directions. This creates a more even working pattern and helps prevent soil from continually building up on one side of the row.
The Vini Disc is suited to cultivation between vines and permanent plantings, where operators need consistent tillage for weed control, wheel-track removal and general soil preparation. Its adjustable gang angles and floating linkage design also allow the machine to be set up for different working conditions.
